Synopsis:
Gigi, Bea, and Neerja are best friends and total overachievers. Even if they aren’t the most popular girls in school, they aren’t too worried. After all, real life will begin once they get to their Ivy League colleges. But when an unexpected event proves they’re missing out on the full high-school experience, it’s time to come out of the honors lounge and into the spotlight. The trio makes a pact: They will each take on their greatest challenge and totally rock it.

Gigi decides to run for student rep, but she’ll have to get over her fear of public speaking—and go head-to-head with gorgeous California Will. Bea used to be one of the best skiers around, until she was derailed; it could be time for her to take the plunge again. And Neerja loves the drama club but has always stayed behind the scenes—until now.

These friends are determined to show the world that smart girls really can get what they want—but that might mean getting way more attention than they ever bargained for. . . .

My Review:
To some, high school is the glory years. To others, it’s just a means to an end. For Gigi, Bea, and Neerja, it has always just been a stepping stone towards the glamorous years of college. When the girls’ role model leaves high school with barely anyone remembering who she was, the girls realize they don’t want to waste these years. Facing up to their greatest challenges, all the girls will discover the joys and hardships of high school.

Honestly, I’m not really sure what I think about this book. I had its really excellent moments and its really dull ones. The book took a few too many chapters to actually get into. I waited a long time for the real conflict to start and even when it was there, it just felt bland. The plot itself, moved at a snail’s pace.

This book really felt like an account of high school, which is both good and bad. It earned points for feeling authentic, but it also just felt too detailed in the boring things that happen in high school. I know it’s probably not the easiest thing for a book like this to be more than what it is, high school really doesn’t lend itself to allowing for epic stories, but I still wanted more conflict and drama.

The premise of this book was great. I love the growth the girls go through in this book and how they all faced their fears. I really loved seeing their friendship throughout the book and that really what this book is about (aside from them facing challenges).

The side characters really help this book. I found myself really liking Mike and Sienna. They were great foils to Gigi and really helped her come out of her shell. Will got on my nerves. Ava was annoying. One truly ick I had was when they kept referring to ‘Doctor Who’ as ‘Dr. Who.; True fans know its the former.

Overall, it was an okay book. Probably not something I’d read again though.
